VRI photometry and photometric parallaxes are presented for a sample of 702 stars of color class m in the NLTT catalog for which no trigonometric parallaxes have been measured. Additional VRI photometry of stars with trigonometric parallaxes is also presented. For the program stars, 97 have πph ≥ 0arcsec.040 but only four stars are found to have πph ≥ 0arcsec.100. These nearby stars have no significant effect on the local stellar luminosity function of Wielen.
