Seismic studies of the Sun have helped us determine solar structure and dynamics to a degree of precision that is often met with disbelief. This amazing precision has allowed us to use the Sun as a laboratory to study not only different aspects of stellar evolution theory but also to study questions that involve fundamental physics such as the solar neutrino problem. In this talk I shall discuss how we are able to determine solar structure to such amazing precision and how such results let us test different inputs to stellar evolution calculations. In particular, I shall discuss the recent controversy over solar abundances. I shall also touch upon how we could study more about the physics of stars when we have stellar oscillation frequencies
