A Conventional Inertial System (CIS) on the sky will be a radio reference system. From recent publications it is known that radio objects do not necessarily fulfill all conditions for a CIS. Therefore it seems to be optimal to combine a radio system with an optical one. The later one is only to be realized by means of large telescopes. The paper deals with investigations of the Tautenburg Schmidt Telescope performed for this purpose.
