Observational evidence suggests that all stars of sufficiently late
spectral types are variable. Thus, one method for discovering new
variables is to observe stars known to be of very late spectral types
but which do not appear in the General Catalogue of Variable Stars as
confirmed variables. A partial list of candidate stars is appended.
