Using data from the MEASURE and IGPP arrays of ground magnetometers, we are able to infer plasma mass density in the inner magnetosphere. This is accomplished by performing a cross-phase analysis between two ground-based magnetometers to determine the toroidal eigenfrequencies of the field line located half way between the two stations. These eigenfrequencies can then be used to calculate the equatorial plasma mass density of that line, assuming the Shulz model. We have developed an automated method of extracting toroidal eigenfrequencies from the cross phase spectrogram of two closely spaced stations lying on the same meridian. With this method, we can continuously monitor the dayside plasma mass density at mid latitudes during both quiet and disturbed times. Using data from 3 pairs of magnetometers, we have observed a rise in the plasma mass density following a storm.
