In the present study, the processing analyzer of a proton magnetometer precession signal is optimized. Objective criteria for selecting analyzer designs with respect to error requirements are derived from an analysis of several design versions. The optimal version is found to be an analyzer that minimizes the error within a given measurement time and minimizes the measurement time for a given error. The measurement error is assessed for various signal to noise ratios and various signal observation time.
