The theory of solar neutrino generation is reviewed with an emphasis on the measureable fluxes from the 8B, 7Be, and p-p reactions. The ``solar neutrino problem'' is summarized. It is emphasized that there are really two solar neutrino problems - the most compelling being the difficulty in making a quantitatively consistent picture of the relative rates of the different reactions from current experimental data. In addition, preliminary results from Super-Kamiokande are presented for the first 306 days of operation. The flux of solar neutrinos from 8B is measured to be 2.44+/-0.06(stat.)+0.25- 0.09(syst.)x106cm-2s-1, inconsistent with the BP95 solar model prediction of 6.6x106cm-2s-1. No significant day/night or energy dependence is seen, although energy resolution will not reach the expected final value until on-going calibration studies with the electron LINAC are completed
