We present the initial results from a Gemini North Hokupa'a adaptive optics search for newborn planets around young stars in a nearby star forming region. The stars in this sample are evolved to the point that their disks should be largely dissipated, yet young enough that newly-formed planets are still very luminous. We describe the sensitivity limits to faint companions and corresponding the mass-separation phase space that is probed.
