The operational environment of the European Retrievable Carrier (EURECA) as experienced by the Solar Constant and Variability (SOVA2) experiment is presented. This experiment has independently measured the solar pointing with a high resolution sun sensor and monitored several temperatures as ancillary parameters to be used in elevation of the scientific measurements. Results of these measurements are presented and experience with the novel telemetry/telecommand and data retrieval system is commented.
