It is shown that when the solar wind interacts with cometary ionospheres its magnetic field penetrates through the contact surface into the coma. For Venus-like planets, the effect of regular field motion is not present so that the magnetic field in the ionospheres of nonmagnetic planets may be due to the instability of the ionosphere - ionopause boundary.
