THE extreme eccentricity of the orbit of Witt's planet suggests some
interesting speculations. Assuming the aphelion and perihelion distances
in terms of the earth's mean distance are respectively 1.79 and 1.12,
the planet approaches the sun in 322 days, a distance of sixty-one
million miles, an average of 200,000 miles a day.
