FOC ultraviolet images have resolved PAGB (Post-Asymptotic-Giant- Branch) stars in the inner bulge of the galaxy M31. These stars, however, contribute to less than 20 % of the total observed UV flux. The bulk of the UV emission should be explained by stars which, in metal-rich population, are predicted to move from the giant branch to the left of the HR diagram while skipping the AGB (Asymptotic-Giant-Branch) either partially or totally. The dwarf spheroidal galaxy Leo I provides an opportunity to resolve these categories of stars at intrinsically fainter level than possible in M31, down to the AGB-manque or HB phases of evolution. Observations will be performed with the FOC and the WFPC2 in parallel mode.
