An inductively heated, high-temperature evaporation oven for electron
spectroscopy is described. Experiments on the synchrotron radiation
excited 2s photoionization and Auger decay of open shell Al atoms are
presented. The relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac Fock method has
been applied in the theoretical predictions of the spectral structures.
