The locations of 95 coronal mass ejection (CME) events observed during
1984-1986 are examined relative to coronal hole and active region
features. No evidence is found to support the hypothesis that CMEs
originate in coronal holes. The results suggest that active regions are
indeed associated with the source regions of CMEs.
