I discuss the main ideas/assumptions underlying string cosmology and show how they lead to a two-parameter family of ``minimal'' models. I then outline how the spectrum of scalar, tensor and electromagnetic perturbations are related to those parameters, and mention their most relevant physical consequences. Finally, I briefly report on recent progress on the exit problem in string cosmology.
