We will review available data with relevance to the sequence of events that shaped the Martian History, with a special emphasis on the period during which the primordial bombardment occurred. We will show that the Noachian period indeed covers eras of huge diversity, in terms of climate, environment and planetary processes. The respective roles of exogenous (impact driven) and internal processes will be discussed, primarily in the framework of possibility for Mars to have harboured habitable conditions.
