We present near infrared (1.4-2.5 micron) molecular spectroscopy of the transiting planets HD 189733b and HD 209458b acquired with HST. A bulk of the emergent radiation from these irradiated gas giant exoplanets is emitted in the 1-3 micron range, making this region of the spectrum particularly important for the studies of irradiated atmospheres. The talk will focus on the observed spectra, and modeling the above mentioned EGP atmospheres.
