Only six elements (O, H, He, Na, K, and Ca), which are known to be present in the exosphere of Mercury, are not the result of a comprehensive search. These species were identified by ground-based observations and ultraviolet spectroscopy on the Mariner-10 mission. However, there is still possibility that there are other undetected species such as Ne, Ar, S, and Al. Their existences and abundances suggest a complex interplay of the solar wind, magnetosphere, and rocky surface. In other words, to know composition of the Mercurian exosphere leads to diagnosing the interaction among the surface, magnetosphere, and solar wind. For this reason, we are developing the high-sensitive UV spectrometer for the Bepi-Colombo mission. The new optics is employed in this instrument. It enhances the sensitivity in the EUV and enables us to explore unknown species in the exosphere of Mercury.
