An analysis is presented of the effect of solar-flare X-rays in the 8-20 A range on Hall current in the illuminated polar cap, the Hall current being determined by the electric field along the morning-evening meridian (the normal and inverse convective electric field). Fifty-eight flares over the period April-August, 1970-1972 were examined. It is shown that increases of X-ray flux density produce an increase in the Hall current. An expression is obtained for the dependence of the ratio of the geomagnetic field in the maximum of the flare to the value of the field before the flare on the value of the variation of the X-ray flux density.
