We have undertaken a high spatial resolution and high dynamic range survey of extended emission near young stars of intermediate mass (Herbig Ae/Be systems), the primary goal of which is to add crucial information to the interpretation of recent near-infrared interferometric measurements. We report on the discovery of an unexpected jet-like feature in the vicinity of the Z Canis Majoris binary, detected in J band observations using the adaptive optics system on the Keck-II telescope.
