In studying dynamics of elliptical galaxies, the observable quantities are always coarse-grained. The coarse-grained evolution can increase the entropy of the system, the coarse-graining procedure plays an important role in relaxation of elliptical galaxies. Thus we have derived collision term directly from the procedure. We also have discussed about physical meanings of the collision term, and shown it contains three different effects;1)the self-interaction, 2) phase mixing, and 3) the scattering. The collision term derived from BBGKY formalism given the N-body distribution function corresponding to coarse-graining have been discussed and it has shown that collision term derived from BBGKY contains mainly the self-interaction effect. Therefore the dynamical study of elliptical galaxies should employ coarse-graining.
