X-ray spectra and the total rate of energy loss due to electron-positron (e-e+) bremsstrahlung in a mildly relativistic thermal plasma are calculated using the differential cross section of e-e+ bremsstrahlung exact to lowest-order perturbation theory. The results are compared with the nonrelativistic and extreme-relativistic approximations available and with the emissivities of a plasma due to electron-proton and electron-electron bremsstrahlung. For equal particle densities the e-e+ process is found to be the dominant emission mechanism in the whole temperature range.
