Criteria distinguishing two types of pulsar are proposed in order to relate the integrated pulsar pulse widths to the Polar Cap Model (PCM). According to the criteria, a type I pulsar is associated with magnetic dipole radiation from superfluid neutrons in the interior. The maximum period of type I pulsars is less than 0.5 s. For a type II pulsar, however, magnetic dipole radiation can be neglected. The maximum period for a type II pulsar is estimated near 1.25 s and the period derivative P dot varied as 1/P.
