Within the context of a class of higher dimensional models of gravity,
we investigate the heating of the universe following an inflationary
phase. High temperatures, typically on the order of 1017 GeV
can be achieved. This allows for a subsequent production of baryon
asymmetry and, if existing, superheavy cosmic strings.
