The waveguide propagation of electromagnetic waves in high-plasma-density axisymmetric ducts oriented along a constant external magnetic field is examined in the framework of the WKB approximation for frequencies much higher than the lower hybrid frequency. Tunnel effects leading to trapped-wave damping are taken into account, and conditions for waveguide propagation and the logarithmic damping decrement are determined. The field is constructed using axisymmetric WKB solutions of the Maxwell equations.
