The 'tektite-like bodies' reported recently from Lonar Crater, India
(Murali et al., 1987) are, in fact, high sodium (up to 22 percent Na2O)
artificial glasses and so need not be explained by unrealistic, natural
mixing models. These bodies have no bearing on the problem of impactite
chemistry or tektite generation.
