The 26Al nucleus is of prime interest both for gamma ray astronomy (observation of its 1.809 MeV line) and for the cosmochemistry of isotopic anomalies (anomalous 26Mg abundances in some meteorites). It is thus important to improve the nuclear data involved in 26Al nucleosynthesis. For instance, we discuss here the modes of 26Al destruction and in particular its beta-decay through off-equilibrium thermal population of the lowest lying levels. Available nuclear data are used to improve the estimates for this mode of destruction.
