The standard abundance distribution of the elements in the universe is particularly well defined in the mass region of the lanthanides thanks to the chemical similarity of these elements. Therefore, the respective isotope patterns are reliably linked and provide an important basis for the investigation of several s-process branchings. New (n,γ) cross sections on Pr, Nd, Dy, and Er isotopes are presented which are based on measurements with the Karlsruhe 4πBaF2 detector and with the activation method. The implications of these data for s-process analyses are discussed.
