The origin of galactic cosmic rays is examined on the basis of cosmic-ray nuclei data (Li, Be, B, H-2 and H-3 nuclei). A one-dimensional diffusion model is developed in which the cosmic ray sources and the interstellar gas are concentrated in the galactic disk. Cosmic ray nuclei diffuse with a coefficient constant throughout the Galaxy and freely enter the intergalactic medium. The mechanism of cosmic ray production is still unclear, but is apparently associated with the resonant scattering of particles on inhomogeneities of the galactic magnetic field.
