Two models of the formation of Uranus and Neptune are discussed: accumulation of solid bodies and growth of dust conglomerations. Inclusion of ejection of bodies from the alimentation zone of a growing planet into a solid state accumulation model does not resolve the growth time problem and adds the problem of the total mass of matter in the planet's alimentation zone. The model of the growth of the far planets as rarefied dust condensations yields acceptable growth times for Uranus and Neptune at moderate values of initial surface density of solid matter in their formation regions.
