The regions of increased electron density in the upper ionosphere and magnetosphere were determined from observation of plasma-wave radiation by a spectrum analyzer installed on board the Prognoz-5 spacecraft. The occurrence of these regions is associated mainly with the ionospheric electrojet resulting from the ultraviolet and radio emissions of the Sun.
