The demonstration of self sustained oscillations of a diode laser pumped
Rb-87 maser is reported. The output powers of the laser in various
pumping light intensities and cell temperatures were measured. The
largest output power obtained with the diode laser power of 3.6 mW was 1
x 10(exp -10) W at the optimal cell temperature of 58 C.
