The paper examines the clouds associated with the Herbig Ae/Be stars LKH-alpha 198, HD 200775, and RR Tau in order to study the effects of the young stars on the surrounding gas and dust. Mapping of the J = 2 - 1 and J = 1 - 0 transitions of CO and (C-13)O towards these clouds and IRAS maps at 12, 25, 60, and 100 microns are presented. The (C-12)O and (C-13)O emission towards the reflection nebulosity associated with HD 200775 and NGC 7023 is very weak. Sharp borders are found between the bulk of the molecular clouds and the reflection nebulosities VDB 1 and NGC 7023. The J = 2 - 1/J = 1 - 0 intensity ratio of (C-12)O and (C-13)O indicate kinetic temperatures of about 15 K and H2 densities of 1000-5000/cu cm for the bulk of the molecular cloud. The flux at 100 microns is correlated with the integrated intensity of the (C-13)O, but the slope of this correlation varies over the clouds.
