A new simplified method for the analysis of the ionospheric h'(f) records is developed, using the wave refractive index [mu] instead of the group refractive index [mu]'. The average virtual height curves are the required experimental data for this method. The new simplified integral equation applies for the ordinary and the extraordinary waves. The final solution involves expansions of the functions in power series.
