Ground magnetometer observations are presented that confirm the properties of a large azimuthal wave number Pc 5 pulsation observed previously with thy STARE radar. The ionospheric height-integrated Hall conductivity is estimated to be approximately 4 mhos based on the magnetometer results combined with thySTARE results. In addition, these results are found to support theories which predict a 90 degree rotation of polarization between ionosphere and ground. The properties of the observed vertical magnetic component at the ground are found to be consistent with the theory of Southwood and Hughes (1978).
