(1) IN NATURE of July 17, Dr. Stenz1 expresses the opinion
that not more than 3000 stones fell near Pultusk in the famous meteorite
shower of January 30, 1868, and that only a curious mis-reading of a
chemical analysis led to the usually quoted number of 100,000 stones.
