This review discusses the role of neutrinos in the dynamics of supernovae. Neutrinos not only provide an essential probe into the core collapse mechanism, but also probably play an active role in the explosion mechanism. The time history of the neutrino fluences and their spectral shapes are affected by such physics as the nuclear equation of state and convection modeling. In turn, neutrinos play an active role in depositing energy in the region behind the outgoing shock wave and in the potential formation of heavy nuclei via r-process nucleosynthesis.
