Stars: Gravitational Collapse, Black Holes: Hawking Radiation
Scientific paper
The author considers a spherical star, stationary in the past, collapsing to a black-hole in the future. Assuming the quantum state of a Klein-Gordon field to be the Fock vacuum in the past, he proves that an observer at rest in the Schwarzschild coordinates, will measure a thermal state with the Hawking temperature, at the last time of the gravitational collapse.
