Plasma sheet boundary layer and low-latitude boundary layer have some properties in common. They are regions of cross-boundary transport showing most interesting features. Recent high-resolution spacecraft measurements in both regions provide a good opportunity to check current transport theories in collisionless plasmas. Extended and correlated wave and particle observations have become available only recently. We present an introductory overview of the current state of knowledge of measurements and processes in these regions. One may expect considerable progress in transport theories stimulated by these observations. Anomalous possibly chaotic transport seems to be most important.
