In the quest to go behond three-nucleon scattering, using exact microscopic calculations, the neutron-triton (n-t) singlet and triplet scattering lengh, together with the total n-t cross section σt in the resonance region (E ~= 3.5 MeV), are the simplest 4N observables one needs to understand. Unlike scattering lenghes that scale with the triton binding energy, σt in the resonance region, being dominated by N-N and N-(2N) P-waves amplitudes, is almost independent of its value. Recent work indicates that the three-nucleon force is paramount to obtaining the correct values for as and a_t. As for σ_t, two calculations reproduce the data, while a third one, using a more limited channel space, does not. All calculations seem to indicate that one may be confronted with a subsistent Ay problem in n-t scattering, even if the underlying N-N interaction solves or improves the existing Ay issue in n-d scattering. Our studies also include calculations of cross sections and analysing powers for dd → dd and dd → n^3He, as well as n^3He → n^3He and n^3He → p^3H, using realistic N→N interactions such as Bonn CD and Neijmegen II. Compared to existing quality data, they show large unexplained discrepancies, some of which greatly improve when we use the NLO potential which is derived from Effective Field theories based of Chyral Perturbation. Therefore the 4N scattering problem, not only constitutes a challenge to theoretical models of the N-N interaction, but also may be a laboratory for studies of the 3N force.
