We have recently discovered X-ray outflows carrying solar-masses of material at 10-15% the speed of light in two radio-quiet, high accretion-rate AGN. In these objects a substantial fraction of the black hole gravitational energy is extracted in the form of bulk outflow kinetic energy. We propose to observe three high accretion rate AGN in order to confirm the association of massive outflows with high accretion rates and hence provide new insights into the accretion process close to a massive black hole. If common, we suggest X-ray outflows may provide a key link between radio-quiet and radio-loud objects and between AGN and stellar-mass black hole systems.
