The existence of a warm-hot intergalactic medium (WHIM) can solve two puzzles: Why galaxy clusters do not follow classical scaling relations and Where are the local baryons observed at high z. Our XMM observations of the outskirts of the Coma cluster detect the WHIM viewed along a filament. Its X-ray temperature is 0.2 keV and OVII and OVIII emission lines are observed at CCD resolution. Remarkably, a bright AGN is also projected on the WHIM, so grating observations can detect OVII and OVIII absorption lines. The redshift and width of the lines will determine where the gas is and its size along the line of sight. The combination of emission and absorption lines from the same species provides additional diagnostics of the properties of the WHIM.
