Scientific paper

We propose a series of six 20 ks XMM-Newton observations of the central region of M31 during the AO-3 Cycle (two observations during each of three visibility windows) as a continuation of the PV/GT monitoring campaign. The primary objective of these observations would be the search for a new transients and monitoring of the spectral and timing evolution of transient and variable X-ray sources.
