We propose to observe, for 20 ks each, 5 bright (F(2-10) > 2x10^{-11} cgs) and luminous (L(2-10) > 10^{44} cgs) Seyfert 1 galaxies from the Grossan HEAO1 X-ray catalog. The sources have never been observed by imaging hard (i.e. E>2 keV) X-ray instruments, but that were bright in ROSAT PSPC, and therefore the idenditication is robust. These observations will double the number of sources sources observed by XMM-Newton with these luminosities and fluxes. The aim of the proposal is to search for luminosity-dependent spectral properties, and in particular to test the so-called `X-ray Baldwin'' effect, i.e. the diminution of the iron line EW with luminosity.
