We propose repeated observations with XMM-Newton of the bright Seyfert galaxy NGC 5506 which exhibits a complex Fe line emission profile, with at least two components, as revealed by previous XMM-Newton AO-1 observations. The source is also known to be highly variable on timescales of few days from extensive RXTE monitoring. The main goal of the proposed observations is to assess the location and physical state of the emitting media by measuring their profiles and EWs in different intensity states of the continuum. Our strategy will be to perform 4 logarithmically spaced observations, sampling time scales from a few days to a month.
