We have identified a sample of dust-reddened quasars at redshifts ~0.4-3 through matching the 2MASS near-infrared and FIRST radio surveys. These quasars are reddened by E(B-V)~0.5-2 in the rest-frame, and have observed R-K colours from 4.4 to more than 6. We believe these are the high bolometric luminosity analogues of the red quasars found in deep surveys with XMM and Chandra which make up ~30% of the X-ray background. XMM observations of our quasars will allow us to test this hypothesis through measurements of the absorbing columns and spectral slopes. We also wish to establish the gas:dust ratio in the absorbing material, and search for links with the broad-absorption line quasar population.
