In the area of elliptical galaxies only dwarfs are available for study in the Local Group. WFPC2 offers the opportunity to study the stellar populations of early type galaxies of much larger size. The Centaurus group is the next logical step after the Local Group and the observations proposed will resolve the red giants in NGC5128. The asymptotic giant branch population will be an interesting probe of the intermediate age population in this galaxy.
