The relationship between galaxies and low column density, metal poor quasar absorbers is still poorly understood. Thereis some evidence for two populations: strong Lyman-Alphaabsorbers which are associated with luminous galaxies, andweak Lyman-Alpha absorbers that are uncorrelated withgalaxies. Recent HST observations of the quasar pair, Q0107-025 A,B, detect common Lyman-Alpha lines over a scale at least500-750 h_50^-1 kpc, with an rms velocity difference of lessthan 100 km/s. This implies that Lyman-Alpha absorbers arelarger and more quiescent than any current theoretical modelspredict. The physical properties of the absorbers can be mosteasily understood if they occupy low density, low velocitydispersion environments. In this respect, they are similar tolow surface brightness galaxies, and they may represent arelatively unbiased tracer of the underlying massdistribution. We have selected 10 quasars in the Virgo regionand beyond, where the 3-dimensional distribution of galaxiesis extremely well mapped, and propose to observethem with GHRS to detect an estimated 40 Lyman-Alpha absorbersover the redshift range z = 0 to z = 0.1. There is no apriori selection in favor of quasars demonstrating a highdensity of absorbers. The results will be used to discriminatebetween different models of the clustering of the absorberswith respect to bright galaxies.
