Brans-Dicke (BD) theory1 provides the most natural generalization of General Relativity in which Mach's principle and Dirac's large number hypothesis are properly accommodated by means of a nonminimal coupling between the geometry and a scalar field ø, the BD scalar. The scalar field rules dynamics together with geometry and induces a variation of the gravitational coupling with time and space through the relation Geff = 1/ø. The gravitational constant GN is recovered in the limit ø → constant...
