De Broglie waves are considered in the Copenaghen interpretation of Quantum Mechanics only as a useful tool to compute probabilities. Since 1927 they have played a different role in "the theory of the double solution" proposed by de Broglie as an alternative to the standard point of view. He believed that each particle is accompanied in spacetime by a real "pilot wave" dictating the direction of motion of the particle. So he proposed that the wave equation admits two kinds of solutions: a continuous wave describing the particle's immediate neighborhood having also the usual statistical significance and a nondispersive singularity solution (a soliton) representing a particle. This idea was improved in 1952 by Bohm's hidden variable theory and then by Vigier and his co-workers in the Stochastic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. We want to focus our attention on two open problems...
